Knowing what trails to start on

Planning your trip to Blue Derby but don’t consider yourself a mountain biker? You aren’t sure what berms, downhill, single track or dialled means, don’t stress. Mountain bike riding isn’t all about big air and high speed, it’s about being comfortable riding a bike and experiencing that fuzzy flow feeling that Derby has to offer.

Adventure 1

Adventure 1 consists of only green trails, the easiest out of the entire trail network. Half an hour to an hour will see you complete this ride whilst seeing the likes of trails Chain Gang, Rusty Crusty, Axehead, Relics and Sawtooth. The views are the standout of Adventure 1 with Tasty Trout Falls and The Cascade River being the perfect place to stop and get your insta worthy snap.

Adventure 2

The more challenging out of the two, Adventure 2 has a mix of both blue and green trails and is the perfect adventure to ride to take your riding to the next level. 1-2 hours will ensure you see Rusty Crusty, Axehead, Long Shadows, Flickity Sticks, Sawtooth and Berms and Ferns, just to name a few. But views of Monument, Boulders and Tasty Trout falls make the extra challenge worth it.

Little Chook

Riding Little Chook is the perfect mix of beautiful scenery and enough thrill to get your adrenaline pumping, but not too much to make you get off your bike and walk. A cruisy 5.9km that passes through Myrtle Beech Forests and gets up close up to the wandering streams and breathtaking scenery.

Little Chook starts and finishes along Emu Rd, a few metres down from the Weldborough Pub, hot tip - warm down the legs by finishing off with a slow ride along the creek at the base of Little Chook. Refuel and celebrate Celebrate completing Little Chook by sitting in the sunshine outside at the Weldborough Pub, a Tassie proud pub stocking a range of Tasmanian craft ciders, beers and most importantly locally sourced food.
